Store Management Internship – Southwest Region – TX, AZ, NV, Southern CA

nn Overview: nn nn The inner workings of a multi-million dollar retail department store are both complex and dynamic.

As a key player on a store leadership team, you’ll learn the challenges and collaborate on the solutions to driving the ideal shopping experience for today’s customers.

Plus, you’ll get a firsthand introduction to the strategies and partnerships that will make you highly successful in this exciting, fast-paced program.nn nn nn nnAvailable in major markets nationwide, the 8-week Store Management Internship will give you exposure to all facets of leading a store including team development, customer service, merchandising, business analysis, visual presentation, store operations, human resources, and asset protection.  You will make a direct impact on the business as you learn through real-world experiences.

With mentorship and Store Manager support, you will receive leadership and professional development that will prepare you for a bright future in management.  Successful completion of the internship may lead to an opportunity to join Macy’s full-time Executive Development Program upon graduation.  The program begins in June.nn nn nn nn Essential Functions: nn nWork through weekly assignments that directly impact the business and foster your development as a retail leader.

n nComplete a business-driving project & presentation demonstrating your learning throughout the program and consulting store leadership on your new ideas to grow the business.n nExperience all facets of running a multi-million dollar department store through cross-functional departmental and operational exposures.  n nWork with mentor to create a customer-focused selling environment by assisting with coaching and developing a team of associates.  n nAssist with driving sales & profit through a range of different activities including managing the daily operation of our stores, training & coaching associates, and analyzing trends alongside business partners who make product merchandising decisions that better meet our customers’ needs.n nInteract with store manager and regional teams to obtain a greater insight into the multitude of career opportunities available in our organization.n nRegular, dependable attendance & punctuality.

n nn Qualifications: nn nn Education/Experience: nn nTo be eligible for our internship, you should be in your junior year, on your way to earning a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.  A cumulative 3.0 GPA minimum is preferred.  All majors will be considered for this opportunity.  n nn Communication Skills: nn nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.  n nAbility to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.

n nn Mathematical Skills:  nn nStrong business acumen and ability to analyze data to make decisions.

n nn Leadership Skills: nn nLeadership experience and ability to solve problems and drive results through others.

n nn Physical Demands: nn nThis position involves regular walking, standing, hearing, and talking.

n nMay involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.

n nMay involve close vision, color, vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

n nInvolves use of hands and fingers for typing on keyboard and using a mouse.

n nAbility to lift up to 30 pounds.n nn Other Skills: nn nIntellectual curiosity, positive attitude, self-motivation, and curiosity about developing a modern retail business.
