Graphics Internship
– Spring 2021Internship Period: January 10, 2021-May 8, 2021Deadline to Apply: December 3, 2020 at 5:00 PM ETPlease note: If you are seeking an internship with ZooTampa, do not apply for more than two opportunities within the same term.

Applying to more than two areas may disqualify the candidate from further consideration.-: Intern will assist with hands on design work within the Marketing Department.Other functions include:* Create and assist with design work related to ZooTampa signage, ZooTampa collateral and outdoor decor.* Perform some computer work with graphic design software.* Learn to work with various shop-related tools to complete projects.* Complete independent walk-thru of grounds monthly to update signage and decor.* Assist Brand Manager and Graphic Art and Content Specialist with various duties and tasks.Qualifications:* Junior or Senior status with major coursework toward a degree in an art-related/fine art background preferred but all majors accepted.* Portfolio or examples of work may be required.* Mature individual who is able to complete tasks independently.* Excellent communications skills.* Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or other graphic design programs.* Candidates with access to Adobe Creative Suite preferred.* Must be at least 18 years of age.* Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.Required Availability:* Must be able to commit to a 14 week internship.* Must be able to commit to a schedule of a minimum of 10 hours per week.* Scheduled days are primarily Monday through Friday within Zoo operating hours (9:30 AM to 5:00 PM).

Days and hours are flexible.* Some weekend and extended hours may be required during special events.Additional Requirements:If an internship offer is made, it is contingent on:* Candidates seeking academic credit must have arrangements agreed upon between the Zoo and their school before beginning the internship.* All offers are contingent on the successful completion of a criminal background screening and execution of a required hold harmless/liability release agreement.* Candidate will be responsible for the cost of the background check (typically $25 but certain jurisdictions may have additional fees).* Interns must have personal health insurance coverage for illness or injury (as volunteers and interns are not covered by the Zoo workers’ compensation program).Benefits:Internships are unpaid and are designed to meet academic requirements, as applicable, and provide valuable real-world experience for participants.

Successful completion of an internship may also yield letters of recommendation, a portfolio of their work when applicable and important networking contacts.Who is eligible?Applicants must be a Junior, Senior or Master’s level students or recent graduates.
