RTX: Summer Internship: Systems Engineering (Virginia Tech Raytheon Technologies Fellowship Program Candidates)

The selected candidate will intern with the RIS Systems Engineering team during Summer 2021.

The internship will be based out of our facility in Indianapolis, IN and consist of professional development, training, mentorship, and networking.

At the end of the internship your performance will be evaluated for consideration into the RIS Raytheon Technologies Fellowship Program (RTFP).

About the RTFP program: Upon program acceptance, participants will be submitted for a national security clearance.

Once the security clearance has been granted, interns will work part time during their remaining semesters, supporting RIS’s programs from the Virginia Tech campus.

Working part-time for RIS prior to obtaining the security clearance is an option depending on the student’s desire and the hiring department’s ability to provide appropriate work.

Participants will receive a $10,000 signing bonus upon acceptance to the program and an additional $10,000 signing bonus upon converting to full-time employee status post-graduation.

Participants will sign an offer agreement, committing to remain with RIS for a minimum of two years after becoming a full-time employee.As a Systems Engineering Intern, you will work with a team of talented and experienced engineers performing many core activities to include design, development or test at the system, subsystem, and component level.

The selected candidate will apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques to solve customer needs by providing customized engineering services and products for unique customer missions.

Responsibilities Include: Providing basic support developing and documenting requirements and interfaces, design analysis, modeling and simulation, system integration and trade studies Providing basic support developing, documenting and executing system verification to show compliance Applying your engineering knowledge and participating as a member of a multi-discipline team Contributing to the completion of project/program milestones under the general guidance of the immediate supervisor and team leads Following established SE processes and procedures Requirements: Only currently enrolled students at Virginia Tech can be considered for this role.

Positive attitude and proven leadership skills Customer focus and ability to collaborate Excellent written and verbal communication skills Completed Systems, Electrical, Software, Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering course work such as: Basic circuits, advanced circuits, circuits labs, electro-mechanical, digital theory, thermal theory, thermal labs, computer engineering, software languages, etc.

of computers and computer systems Security Clearance As a defense contractor, there are specific programs requiring a certain level of security clearance and special access for assigned staff.

The selected candidate will be required to secure these accesses.

Not being able to secure the TS/SCI Security Clearance needed for this position may result in an offer of employment being rescinded.

Qualified applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the requirements to obtain and maintain a government TS/SCI security clearance.

Except in rare circumstances, only U.S.

citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Desired Requirements: Previous intern experience Knowledge of MS Office or other presentation tools Previous Engineering project and/or internship experience Ability to work in a team environment Education Requirements: Candidate must be currently enrolled at Virginia Tech pursing a degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Computer Engineering, Software or Systems), Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or a closely related STEM field.

A cumulative GPA of 3.0+ is strongly desired.

This position will be hired at the appropriate salary grade based on completed hours of college credit towards the required degree.

Junior Intern (ST03 TechStudent-Junior) must have completed 60 hours of college credits toward degree and obtained Junior status as of Summer 2021.

Senior Intern (ST04 TechStudent-Senior) must have completed 90 hours of college credits toward degree and obtained Senior status as of Summer 2021.

This position requires either a U.S.

Person or a Non-U.S.
